Zuddl offers a flexible coupon system that allows event organizers to provide discounts through the use of promo codes or coupons. This functionality helps to incentivize different types of attendees, such as early registrants, group bookings, or specific audience segments.
Coupons serve as an effective marketing tool by providing financial incentives to specific groups, driving urgency, and increasing engagement. Whether used for early bird pricing, referral programs, or special offers for returning attendees, coupons offer flexibility and help boost registration numbers. They are particularly effective when used to create urgency, such as with limited-time offers or discounts tied to specific dates. An organizer hosting a hybrid conference can create an early bird coupon that gives a 20% discount to the first 100 registrants.
Single-use coupons are the most straightforward coupon type, offering a discount that can only be redeemed once. These are typically used for general discounts, such as a flat-rate discount on ticket prices or specific category discounts. When an attendee enters the coupon code during the registration process, the discount is automatically applied to their total registration fee.
Multiple-use coupons can be redeemed by different attendees but are limited by a set number of uses. This type of coupon is useful for targeted promotions to specific groups of people or affiliates, such as influencers or event partners who promote the event to their audience. For example, an event partner might receive a coupon code that allows their customers to receive a 20% discount on registrations. However, the coupon only works for the first 200 uses, incentivizing early sign-ups while providing a limited time for the discount.
Stackable coupons enable event organizers to apply multiple coupons to a transaction. This feature allows different discount categories to be combined, providing more significant savings to attendees.
Stackable coupons are beneficial for organizers aiming to increase attendance by offering more attractive pricing. They allow for layered incentives, making the event more appealing to different types of attendees, such as individual participants, corporate groups, or loyal returnees. This flexibility can drive higher registration volumes and allow for more complex pricing strategies without complicating the registration process.
One of the key advantages of stackable coupons is their ability to apply multiple coupons to a single transaction, which is particularly useful for group registrations or event packages. This allows attendees to benefit from different discounts based on their situation, such as an “early bird” discount and a “group” discount being applied to a single registration.
When a single purchaser buys many tickets, a flat coupon can create outsized discounts. The Usage limit within a transaction caps how many tickets the coupon can touch in one cart. For example, a 20% coupon applies to Standard ($100) and VIP ($200). The cart has 10 tickets (8 standard, 2 VIP). With a transaction limit of 3, the system applies the coupon to the 3 tickets that yield the largest absolute discount—the 2 VIPs ($40 off each) and 1 standard ($20 off) = $100 total discount. Without the limit, the same code would have discounted all 10 tickets for $240 off.
Single-use coupon vs. multi-use with per-transaction guardrail
A single-use coupon is redeemed once globally; you don’t need a per-transaction limit because there’s only one redemption. For broad campaigns, turn single-use off and add a usage limit within a transaction. For example “LAUNCH25” is not single-use and has a limit of 2 per transaction. A buyer adds 6 eligible tickets. The system discounts only 2 tickets (chosen for maximum absolute discount), preserving promo reach across more buyers.
If the coupon spans multiple ticket types, Zuddl automatically applies it to the tickets yielding the biggest absolute discount in that cart. For example, in your cart, there are 2 VIP tickets ($300) and 4 Standard ($120). You can apply a coupon, “$50 off applicable tickets,” with a limit of 3. So the 3 discounted units will be the 2 VIPs ($50 × 2) and 1 Standard ($50 × 1) = $150 off. If a VIP is removed, the discount automatically flows to the next most valuable Standard.
Bulk/bundle discounts and coupons can work together; Zuddl calculates each per your configuration and shows a clear breakdown in checkout, invoices, and the transactions page. For example:
Bulk rule: “Buy 5+, get 10% off each.”
Coupon: “$30 off per ticket,”
Limit: 2.
Cart: 6 Standard ($100).
Bulk applies to all 6 (now $90 each). Coupon applies to 2 of the 6 for an extra $30 off each. Final: 4 tickets at $90, 2 tickets at $60. Reports show both the bulk benefit and coupon allocation cleanly.
