Registration approvals extend to ticketed events. You can add an Approval step to your registration flow after Form and Ticketing to gate who can complete checkout. This is useful for invite-only cohorts, high-demand workshops, or compliance-sensitive audiences where you want to screen submissions before seats are confirmed.

How it works

When the Approval step is present in a ticketed flow, registrants advance through the form(s) and ticket selection, reach Order Summary, then click Submit for approval. A banner on the page explains that their request requires organizer approval. Once approved, the registrant receives access to finish checkout; their ticket is reserved for 72 hours. If they do not complete purchase within 72 hours, the reservation expires and the ticket returns to public inventory.
Note: The “Approval step” described here applies to ticketed flows. Non-ticketed flows have a separate approvals capability and do not use this step.
If rejected, they will be informed and can try a different ticket type if available.

Some dependencies

  • Add-ons cannot be purchased before approval. Registrants can select and purchase add-ons after approval when completing checkout.
  • If a coupon reduces the ticket price to $0, the registrant still goes through the payment flow to complete the transaction.
  • Skip-ticketing is compatible with approvals. You can pre-approve a ticket via skip-ticketing and then let the registrant complete the remaining steps.

Inventory and sellouts

If a registrant’s approved ticket type is sold out when they return, you can (a) increase ticket quantity, or (b) reject the request and ask the registrant to choose another available ticket type.
